Terry Copeland, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer
Terry Copeland, Ph.D., was appointed Altairnano’s President and Chief Executive Officer in June 2008. He joined the company in November 2007 as Vice President, Operations of Altairnano’s Power and Energy group, leading global operations and supply-chain management for the company’s lithium titanate battery products.
Prior to joining Altairnano, Dr. Copeland operated T. M. Copeland Associates, an engineering, technology and operations consulting firm.
In 2000, Dr. Copeland joined Millennium Cell, Inc., a development stage company in the hydrogen fuels sector as Vice President, Product Development, and quickly expanded his role to include Research and Development.
In 1992, he joined Duracell as Director of Engineering for North America.
In addition to expanding the engineering organization, he was responsible for the program leading to the development of Duracell's on-cell battery tester. He was asked to take over the ailing manufacturing facility in Lexington, NC, and was credited with turning around that operation in a short period of time. Dr. Copeland went on to lead Duracell's largest plant in North America, with 1,000 employees, in Lancaster, SC. When Gillette purchased the company, Dr. Copeland moved to Boston as the company’s Director of Product Development.
Dr. Copeland began his professional career with the DuPont Company in Research and Development, where he was granted three patents based on his first two years of work. His tenure with DuPont led to responsibilities in international marketing and manufacturing, culminating as Manufacturing Manager with responsibility for the output of several plants in North America.
Dr. Copeland graduated from the University of Delaware in 1973 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He then earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1978, with a minor in law.

John Fallini, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary
Mr. Fallini joins Altairnano from Alloptic, Inc., a producer of passive optical networking equipment, where he served as chief financial officer. Prior to his tenure at Alloptic, Mr. Fallini held management positions at three technology companies, including Pacific Bell, where he held various executive and management positions between 1976 and 1998. From 1998 to 2000, he was the chief operating officer at Butterfield & Butterfield, the then privately owned auction house, during its IPO filing and subsequent sale to eBay for $260 million in 1999. Mr. Fallini graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering and applied science from UCLA, and earned an MBA in finance from Oklahoma City University, where he graduated with high honors. He is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and an IMA Certified Management Accountant.

Bruce Sabacky, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer
Previously, Dr. Sabacky was Manager, Process Development for BHP Minerals' Center for Minerals Technology in Reno, Nevada. Dr. Sabacky began work at BHP Minerals as a principal process engineer. Dr. Sabacky received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in metallurgical engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City and his Ph. D. in materials science and mineral engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Sabacky has worked as a metallurgical engineer at AMAX Extractive Research Laboratory, and he was the manager of engineering at Bandgap Technology Corp.

C. Robert Pedraza, Vice President, Corporate Strategy
Previously, Mr. Pedraza founded Tigré Trading, an institutional equity trading boutique which facilitated transactions for hedge funds and assisted in fund raising. Prior to that Mr. Pedraza held senior sales roles with Fidelity Investments Institutional Services Company, Alliance Capital Management L.P., Compass Bancshares, Inc. and Prudential-Bache Securities, Inc. Mr. Pedraza received his B.S. in Business and Economics from Lehigh University where he was a recipient of the Leonard P. Pool Entrepreneurial Scholarship. He also completed the Graduate Marketing Certificate Program at the Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business.

Daniel S. Voelker, Vice President, Engineering & Operations
Mr. Voelker leads all aspects of engineering and operations for Altairnano and its lithium titanate-based batteries and energy storage systems. He brings a well-suited blend of experience in battery technologies, processes and manufacturing, in addition to systems integration and the implementation of new technologies into commercialized production. Prior to Altairnano, Mr. Voelker was Vice President of Business Development and Sales for Wes-Tech Automation Solutions, a systems integrator, where he also served as Vice President of Operations during his four-year tenure. From 1999 through 2004, Mr. Voelker was employed by DT Industries, where he served in several key leadership roles including Director of Engineering, Director of Program Management for HP Business, and General Manager of DT’s Chicago operation. From 1982 through 1999, Mr. Voelker held numerous positions within Duracell, where he advanced to hold increasing levels of responsibility. These responsibilities included Systems Engineering Manager, Plant Engineering Manager for Duracell’s lithium manufacturing operation and Director of Equipment Engineering for Duracell worldwide. He played a key role in Duracell product launches of lithium battery products, the on-cell battery tester, Ultra alkaline batteries, as well as capacity expansion initiatives for alkaline batteries world-wide. Mr. Voelker graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and the American Society for Quality (ASQ).

Steve Balogh, Vice President, Human Resources
Mr. Balogh leads all aspects of Altairnano’s HR policy development and contributes to the company’s business performance by providing leadership for talent management, employee development, and culture design and implementation. Mr. Balogh also founded PontusOne, an executive search and consulting services firm for technology companies, where he worked with The Conference Board and with IMD (International Institute for Management Development), a leading provider of global executive education services in Lausanne, Switzerland. Before founding PontusOne, Mr. Balogh was a Managing Partner of David Powell, Inc., a Silicon Valley based executive search firm. Prior to joining David Powell, Inc., Mr. Balogh served more than 23 years in various managerial positions at Raychem Corporation, a multibillion-dollar international material science company. In his latest position, he served as Raychem’s first-ever Corporate Vice President, Human Resources. Earlier in his career at Raychem, Mr. Balogh was General Manager for Chemelex, a worldwide division of Raychem. Mr. Balogh holds a BS and a Dean’s Certificate of Advanced Engineering Study in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Tom Kieffer, Vice President, Marketing and Sales
Tom Kieffer is Altairnano’s Vice President of Marketing and Sales. With 27 years of experience in marketing and sales in the diesel engine industry, Kieffer joins Altairnano with an extensive background of leading change to build customer-focused marketing and sales organizations.
Kieffer spent more than 27 years with Cummins Inc., a corporation of complementary business units that design, manufacture, distribute and service engines and related technologies. While with Cummins, he held senior positions in marketing and sales, most recently leading customer relationship management initiatives to profitably grow sales and strengthen customer loyalty.
Kieffer earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Indiana University.
