Conventional lead-acid battery technologies used for uninterruptable power supply (UPS) systems often fail to meet the extended-life, safety, and reliability requirements for making remote UPS applications economical or feasible. These technologies are often considered intolerant to abusive conditions, such as short circuits, overcharge, over-discharge, crush, or exposure to extremely high temperatures.
Altairnano’s lithium-ion battery technology is different. Altairnano is the first company to replace traditional graphite materials used in conventional lithium-ion batteries with a proprietary, nano-structured lithium titanate. The result produces distinctive performance attributes, including longer life cycle, low self-discharge, extremely wide operating temperature ranges, low maintenance, and abuse tolerance.
